DFF Training Workshop "Flat Panel Displays"
Basics and Applications

Objective:
The two-day training workshop aims at communicating basic knowledge of physical, optical and electronic effects of common flat panel display technologies and their fundamental applications. Moreover, drive control and module assembly including metrology will be addressed. The workshop will close with an outlook on prospective technologies.

Target Audience:
The workshop targets at advanced beginners and decision makers in R&D, product engineering, purchasing and marketing, distribution that want to have a better understanding of the "world of flat panel displays".

Topics include display technologies (LCD, OLED, PDP, e-paper, flexible displays, 3D displays etc.), display driving, display application, module assembly, Outlook: future technologies

DFF Practical Workshop "Display metrology"
Theory, basic priciples and hands-on training

Objective:
The two-day workshop aims at teaching the optical and electrooptical parameters like viewing angle, contrast, CIE colour space, luminance, reflection, response time, gray scale level etc. necessary for the characterisation of flat panel displays. These theoretical basics will be discussed on the basis of different measuring techniques with a direct link to the application.
The workshop includes a practical part, where participants will be trained in the use of different measurement techniques in hand-on exercises. You will measure response times, luminance, colour in depencence of the ambient light etc. An introduction in automated testing with a luminance and a colour camera as well as gonioscopic and conoscopic measurements will complete the workshop.

Target Audience:
Managers, engineers and research associates in R&D, product engineering, purchasing and marketing that are dealing with specifications, data sheets or characterisation of flat panel displays in their daily work.
